A Season of Giving at Blackhawk Network
January 25, 2016
Blackhawk Network is a company that prides itself on giving back to the community. Its employees are frequently provided with a variety of opportunities for community involvement. The holiday season in particular is a time that inspires generosity and giving at Blackhawk’s corporate headquarters. Below are just a few highlights of the ways that Blackhawk’s employees in its Pleasanton office gave to others this past holiday season.
Blackhawk’s Marketing and Site Reliability teams volunteered their time to two local senior centers, assisting in the preparation and serving of nutritious meals to the elderly. Afterward, employees also helped with bussing tables and washing dishes.
The Human Resources and Risk departments gave their time to Tri-Valley Haven, a local organization serving adults and children who have experienced domestic violence, sexual assault or homelessness. Blackhawk’s employees assisted in taking inventory of donated clothing and other items for the shelter’s residents.
Blackhawk’s Operations and Accounting teams partnered with Kids Against Hunger, a humanitarian food-aid non-profit dedicated to eradicating world hunger. Together, they helped to prepare an impressive 21,816 meals. For every employee that participated, Blackhawk donated $20 to Kids Against Hunger. In addition to these efforts, Blackhawk held a food drive in support of Open Heart Kitchen, a local organization that provides meals free of charge to the hungry. Together, employees filled over four large bins with donated non-perishable items.
Finally, Blackhawk worked with The Family Giving Tree to set up a “Giving Tree” inside its offices. Employees were encouraged to choose a tag from the branches—which included the holiday gift wish of a child living in poverty—and purchase and wrap the item to donate to the child. In total, Blackhawk provided 150 gifts.
